Sarah's House, LIFE HOUSE

They are considered the lowest of the low.  They have been tossed aside, thrown away, used in such ways that no one would want to imagine.  Their value is less than beasts of burden that live outside.  Unfortunately, this is how society has cast these little ones, these orpaned girls of poverty.

In their world they are nothing.  The men are the highest authority.  Women, as wives, have means to survive.  Children are loved by their parents, and animals are valued for their work and life sustaining products.  The orphans, however, are against great odds; and of these it’s the girls who have the least chance of survival.

That is why Sarah’s House, LIFE HOUSE, is being constructed as a new home for these little ones.  LIFE HOUSE is a dormitory for vulnerable orphaned girls in Ethiopia that would give them a home and a new chance at life.  Not only would the dormitory give them safe haven, but would also provide essential means to build a new life including education and mentorship.  It is our hope that LIFE HOUSE will be a way to break the cycle of hopelessness, and that such children would benefit from this program and grow up to be independent leaders that can one day teach what they have learned, and share the love that was given to them.

This project was brought about by the meeting of minds all of whom had a passionate dream to help orphaned children in Ethiopia.  Sarah McCash of Project Comfort joined with Dr. Larry Thomas, a supporter of efforts in Africa and founder of Tropical Health Alliance Foundation, and Dr. Fekede Gemechu, founder of International Medical Aid Association and an Ethiopian himself, to bring into reality LIFE HOUSE.  Ground breaking started early in 2008, and construction is underway.  An awareness dinner to help raise support for the project is scheduled for Sunday, April 27, 2008 at the Wong Kerlee International Conference Center in Loma Linda University.  All funds raised will go towards to the construction and administrations of Sarah’s House, LIFE HOUSE.
